The Sensory Atelier: Living Life in Little Small Luxuries
At The Flower Recipe Box, we have always believed that flowers are about so much more than flowers.
They are about the way they make us feel. About bringing beauty into an ordinary Tuesday, setting a table just because friends are coming over, picking something beautiful from the garden, or taking a moment to notice the little things that make life feel special.
It is about living life to the fullest and finding beauty wherever you go.
And this is exactly where The Sensory Atelier came to life.
Created as a collaboration between The Flower Recipe Box and the wonderfully talented Karen Dudley, The Sensory Atelier is an invitation to slow down, gather together and experience all the beautiful things that make life richer, flowers, gardens, food, creativity, beautiful objects and good conversation.
A Day of Abundance
I’d love to tell you a little more about how this beautiful day unfolded…
Guests arrived at Karen’s magnificent home, surrounded by flowers, where they were welcomed with bubbles and our own French-inspired twist on the classic Kir Royale.
From there, they wandered through the gardens, where a private brocante market awaited. Trouveza and Sailthru Ceramics Studio had brought together the most wonderful treasures for guests to discover.
Just around the corner, an alfresco table came into view, dressed with flowers from The Flower Recipe Box and beautiful crockery from Sailthru Ceramics Studio, all beneath a pergola draped in Virginia creeper.
The afternoon unfolded in the most wonderfully relaxed way.
We began with a flower demonstration by The Brocante Broker, who used a beautiful vintage copper vessel to bring her arrangement to life. Guests were shown how to weave fresh fruit and flowers into a tablescape — a simple idea that created the most wonderful feeling of abundance.
Then came our guest speaker, Keith Kirsten Horticulture, who had everyone captivated as he shared his knowledge of garden design and the art of creating garden rooms.
It felt less like a formal talk and more like an afternoon spent with old friends, sharing stories, knowledge and a genuine love of gardens.
And all the while, the most delicious aromas were drifting from the grill in the distance, as Karen prepared a spectacular Mediterranean feast for everyone to enjoy.
More Than a Flower Workshop
This is what we love about experiences like The Sensory Atelier.
They remind us that beauty doesn't have to be reserved for special occasions.
A beautiful table. A handful of flowers. Something delicious cooking in the garden. A vintage find discovered at a brocante. A conversation that lasts longer than expected. A garden that makes you stop and look around.
These are the little small luxuries that make up a beautiful life.
The Flower Recipe Box began as an online flower delivery experience, created to bring that feeling of beauty and discovery into your home. But as the brand has evolved, so has the experience.
Today, we are delighted to bring The Flower Recipe Box into gardens, homes and special spaces through our bespoke flower events and workshops.
From intimate floral workshops and garden afternoons to bridal showers, private gatherings, corporate experiences, pop-ups and our signature flower cart, each event is created around the same idea:
Flowers should be experienced, not simply delivered.
What's Next?
The Sensory Atelier is just the beginning.
We are creating more opportunities to gather, learn, create and simply enjoy the beautiful things in life. Each workshop and event will have its own personality, but you can always expect flowers to be at the heart of it.
If you love gardens, flowers, beautiful homes, entertaining, food, creativity and the art of romanticising the everyday, we would love for you to join us.
Keep an eye on our Instagram and website for upcoming events, workshops and new experiences.
Because life is meant to be lived fully.
And sometimes, all it takes is a little beauty, a table full of flowers and a few wonderful people to remind us just how lovely it can be.
The Flower Recipe Box, living life in little small luxuries.
Beautifully captured by The Pretty Creative Studio.
