October: The Season of Flowers

October marks the long-awaited return of one of my favourite seasons, when the gardens begin to overflow with flowers and roses.

Perhaps it’s my years living in the Cotswolds, but I have always had a soft spot for the beauty of an English country garden. There is something about an arrangement that feels as though you have simply wandered into the garden, gathered the most beautiful flowers you could find and placed them, almost effortlessly, into a vase.

This month’s recipe is inspired by exactly that feeling.

Think romantic roses, foxgloves, snapdragons and the delicate whimsy of Queen Anne’s Lace, brought together in a beautiful, slightly wild arrangement filled with colour, movement and charm.

It is uncomplicated, abundant and wonderfully natural, the kind of arrangement that makes you feel as though you have brought a little piece of the garden indoors.

In this recipe, I’ll show you how to flex your roses to create a fuller, more indulgent shape, while keeping the technical side of flower arranging simple and approachable.

My hope is that this month’s Recipe Box brings you the same joy it has brought me, and that for a little while, your home feels like an English country garden in full bloom.

Flowers to gather. A vase to fill. A little everyday luxury to enjoy.
